Editor’s Note:
A previous version of this story said that POTRAZ Director-General Gift Machengete failed to attend court because he was away at a business conference in Victoria Falls. Pindula has since been contacted by a source close to the matter who has advised that Machengete attended court but the trial did not take place. He was given another date in March by the magistrate.
Pindula News sincerely apologises for the error.
Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) Director-General Gift Machengete’s trial was yesterday postponed to the 18th and 19th of March at the magistrate’s court.
Machengete is being charged with criminal abuse of office. Machengete allegedly engaged a local company to construct Container Village Information Centers (CVICs) valued at $1 494 104 without going to tender.
