Chitungwiza New Councillor Sworn In
Yotamu Chigwada, who won the by-election for Chitungwiza Ward 24 last month on an MDC-Alliance ticket, was sworn into office yesterday at the council chambers.
Chigwada was sworn in by the town clerk George Makunde in the presence of District Administrator Mrs Zivanai Chisango. Makunde urged the new councillor to execute his duties as expected and bring development to the community and the local authority. In an interview with The Herald after the ceremony Chigwada said he would strive to serve the interests of the residents. Said Chigwada:
I am honoured to be leading Ward 24 residents and in our area we have three major issues affecting people, that is inconsistent water supply, sewer bursts and inconsistent refuse collection. I will do my best to ensure that these issues are addressed and I shall establish ward committees that I will be working with soon.
