The Zimbabwean Warriors are among 24 African national teams set to play at this year’s African Cup of Nations edition in Egypt. Today, a draw to determine which team falls in which group shall be conducted in Egypt.
They are currently in seeding pot 4. The pots and seedings of the teams were decided based on the latest Fifa World Cup rankings, released on April 4 2019.
This year’s edition marks Warriors’ fourth appearance at the Afcon finals. In the previous editions of the competitions, the national soccer team was knocked out in the group stages.
Recently, the Warriors under the leadership of Kalisto Pasuwa, exited the scene after collecting only one point. They were in a group that consisted Rihad Mahrez’s Algeria, Sadio Mane’s Senegal and Tunisia.
Reaching at least the quarter finals is the least expected result by Zimbabwe’s footbal governing board, ZIFA.
