National Sports Stadium Not Available, Caps-Chapungu Match Postponed

The National Sports Stadium has been declared unavailable for soccer matches this weekend as it is reserved for independence celebrations on the 18th of April.

Consequently, some of the Premier Soccer League matches which were scheduled for the weekend have been rescheduled.

The Caps United and Chapungu match has been indefinitely postponed as a result.

The Caps United coach, Lloyd Chitembwe confirmed the development adding that it is saddening considering the adverse impact the break can have on the team. Chitembwe said:

To some extent it’s very disappointing. We are coming from a very long break since November-December thereabout and then it took us about nine weeks to prepare for the Manica Diamonds game.

And, again, we have been given another break, rather by default.

But, all the same, the effect is not very important, it’s just disappointing that we had the momentum and at the same time I feel the confidence levels are very high and you would want to play games in that kind of a situation.

We have started very well. We are happy with the progress. The team looks good and I am sure there are chances we can keep on improving and we are looking forward to the season.

Other affected matches include the Mushowani Stars vs FC Platinum match and the Black Rhinos vs Bulawayo Chiefs match.
