A traditional leader in Gokwe District, Midlands province has been hauled before the last courts for allegedly parcelling out land illegally i 2011.
Chief Misheck Njelele (59) reportedly gave land to home seekers in Chemagora on a farm that belonged to to Farai Magadzire without his consent.
Chief Njelele appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Mr Storey Rushambwa facing fraud charges.
He was realesed on free bail and the matter will proceed by way of summons.
State prosecutor Chipo Hungwe told the court that some time in 2011, Chief Njelele working in cahoots with one Webster Madhobhi, over the same case, hatched a plan to fleece desperate homeseekre of their money.
The duo subdivided Mgadzire’s farm and sold the plots to home seeker for US$280.
The total ammount of money the duo defrauded the homeseekrs amounted to US$840.
Mr Edmund Mujaya of Punda and Company Law Associates is represnting Chief Njelele.
