Charlton Hwende Leads MDC Secretary General Nominations
Outspoken MDC Deputy Treasurer, Charlton Hwende is leading the nominations for the Secretary-General post ahead of the party’s congress in May. Hwende currently has 8 nominations out of the 11 nominations that have been held so far.
Other contestants for the post – current SG Douglas Mwonzora, Ncube, and Daniel Molokele – all have one nomination each.
Hwende had initially indicated he was not interested in contesting the SG post. He, however, tweeted yesterday to confirm the nominations and said he was looking forward to the increased amount of work the position comes with.
Said Hwende:
Kana tamu office nguva ye Twitter panenge pasisina basa rakawanda (Once I’m in office there will be no time for Twitter. There is a lot of work to do.
Hwende secured nominations from the provinces of Harare, Masvingo, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Midlands, Mashonaland West and North America.
