Johane Marange Apostolic Church members caused a commotion at Marondera Provincial Hospital on Monday after they stormed the facility to “rescue” a fellow congregant.
The church member was admitted at the hospital after he suffered facial injuries in the Macheke accident that killed 13 people on Easter Monday.
The man at the centre of the controversy was the driver of the Nissan Caravan that was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda Fit.
The Kombi was ferrying some apostolic sect members from Mutare to Karimbika in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe when the fatal accident occurred.
The driver was in excruciating pain but the hospital had to discharge him after his churchmates declared that their sect does not allow their members to seek medical attention, but rather prayers.
The driver reportedly rejected injections until his kin came to take him away from the hospital.
He was discharged and taken to his home area in Murambinda.
