The trial date for Wicknell Chivayo’s bribery case has been set for the 21st of May. Chivayo is accused of having bribed former Zimbabwe Power Company board Chairperson Stanley Kazhanje in an endeavor to get a tender. He is alleged to have transferred $10 000 to Kazhanje towards that cause.
The State had initially dropped the bribery charge when Kazhanje trial commenced.
Following the disclosure by the prosecutor, Mr. Brain Vito that the amalgamation of Chivayo’s case with that of Kazhanje was complete, the Harare provincial magistrate Mr. Hosea Mujaya set May 21 as the trial date.
The prosecutor also indicated that he would still need some time to serve summons.
Chivayo was recently acquitted of other corruption charges.
