MDC treasurer-general nominee David Coltart has hit out at MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe for her response to the ruling by High Court Judge, Justice Mushore.
Coltart castigated Khupe for claiming to lead a party that she has opposed in the 2018 elections and attacked since. Said Coltart:
Madam Khupe’s response to the judgment of Mushore J is more farcical than the reasoning of the judgment itself.
Her claim to be the leader of the very party she opposed in the 2018 election and has vilified since is utterly spurious.
Courts cannot create supporters for politicians.
Justice Mushore on Wednesday ruled that Khupe is the rightful leader of the MDC and that Nelson Chamisa took after the presidency after Morgan Tsvangirai’s death through unconstitutional means.
The Judge further ruled that the party should hold an “overdue” extraordinary Congress to elect new leadership.
