President Mnangagwa Commissions New Labour Court

President Mnangagwa has today commissioned a new labour court. Speaking at the event, Mnangagwa indicated the importance of an organised labour system to the realisation of workers’ rights and sustenance of business in the country.

Commissioning the court, the president said:

The Zimbabwe is Open for Business” philosophy, entails the speedy prevention, resolution and determination of contractual disputes between employers and employees.

The efficiency of the Labour Court is therefore critical to the achievements and objectives outlined under these reforms (transitional stabilisation programmes).

He also expressed disappointment over the inadequacy of courts for workers in the country. Mnangagwa said:

It is disheartening that we have three labour courts in the country for all the hard-working Zimbabweans, but my government is pushing for justice and transparency in all courts.

My government will also continuously revise the labour laws and to make sure that the courts are serving the interests of the people.

The president also said that there is need to create a corruption free society. He further said that his government was fully committed to the rule of law.
