Former Dynamos and Warriors player, Moses “Bambo” Chunga has been honoured by former Belgian club Eendracht Aalst.
Chunga, who played for the club for 5 years and was at one point made captain, has been named in the Team of the Century. In an invitation letter seen by The Herald, the club wrote:
Your former football club, Eendracht Aalst, is celebrating its 100th birthday next month.
… You have been nominated for our ‘Team of the Century’, which, I am confident, you will consider as a great honour.
In accepting the honour bestowed upon him, Chunga said:
It’s amazing that the story never ends and that’s what happens when you have a truly professional set-up because history will always be considered very important at such institutions because it helped shape what they are today.
Bambo became the first in-field Zimbabwean footballer, after Independence, to move to a European club.
This was during a time when it was difficult for African players to find clubs in Europe.
