The US-based December 12th Movement and Friends of Zimbabwe staged a protest against sanctions on Zimbabwe on Saturday 25 May 2019 at the White House in Washington DC.
Here are some pictures from the protest:
Earlier in the week, the organization had promised that it would use the occasion of Africa Day to protest against what it termed criminal sanctions on Zimbabwe.
Said the organisation:
A land-locked, developing African nation like Zimbabwe, of 16 million people, poses no existential threat to the ‘national security interest’ of the United States. It is being punished for the example it has set for other African countries in their fight for land reform — the only road forward for development.
Earlier this month, the movement lost its leader and founder, Coltrane Chimurenga. The organisation has a history of solidarity with the Zanu-PF party in Zimbabwe.
