Chamisa Appoints Fadzai Mahere Secretary For Education, Sports, and Culture
MDC President, advocate Nelson Chamisa has appointed advocate Fadzai Mahere as the party Secretary for Education, Sports, and Culture. Mahere announced only yesterday that she had joined the party although she is said to have been present at the party congress. Her picture with Chamisa made rounds on social media on Independence day and after, suggesting that she might have planned to join the party way longer than may be thought.
Mahere posted on Twitter yesterday:
Zimbabwe deserves a strong, united opposition to build the future. I’m happy to announce that I’ve officially joined the MDC. We must speak with one voice against bad governance and strive to create a nation that is free and prosperous. All hands on deck. God bless Zimbabwe

Her decision to join the party was welcomed by several MDC members including party Vice President, Tendai Biti, who quickly congratulated her. Biti said:
Welcome to the MDC family Fadzi. We look foward to completing this journey with you. Zikomo zikomo
A few, however, were a bit skeptical about Mahere’s move with some claiming that she is targeting the Glen View South House of Assembly seat that fell vacant following the demise of the late Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java who succumbed to accident injuries on the 10th of June this year. One @cdesetfree had to say:
It’s tricky on my part i am a past ZANU PF activist, i wouldn’t want people losing focus due to suspicion, former ZANU PF members are generally a problem in opposition.
