Kadewere Draws Inspiration From Dutch Giants, Ajax Amsterdam
Warriors midfielder Tino Kadewere is eyeing success at the Africa Cup of Nations which roars into life in Egypt tonight.
Kadewere opined that in football everything is possible as he draws inspiration from Dutch Champions Ajax Amsterdam who reached the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League against all odds.
Speaking to AFP News from the national team base in Cairo, Egypt, the 23-year-old Kadewere had this to say:
We, as players, we want to make history. We are hoping to make people remember our names. We are hoping to make good history, to make people know that Zimbabwe is one of the best countries in Africa.
No one ever knew that Ajax was going to the semi-finals of the Champions League, and they did it, and they were one foot away from the final. Why can’t Zimbabwe get to the final also? We never know.
It’s an honour to be going to the Afcon. It means even greater achievement by playing against the host nation in the first game, playing against the best African player, and probably one of the best in the world also.
He reckons that it will not be easy playing against the Egyptian Lionel Messi (Mohamed Salah) but vowed that they will do everything possible to win the match.
Zimbabwe host Egypt tonight at 10 pm Zimbabwean Time.
