We As Strikers Let The Nation Down - Khama Billiat
Warriors winger, Khama Billiat admitted that the strikers’ profligacy in front of goal is to blame in the 1-1 stalemate with Uganda in an Africa Cup of Nations match played on Wednesday night.
Billiat, who scored the only goal for Zimbabwe in two games vowed to keep working hard for the Warriors to get the results they want.
He was speaking in an interview with Goal.com soon after last night’s match. He said:
We as strikers let the nation down, we need to take more responsibility to help the nation by taking our chances, football is about scoring if you score you stand a chance.
During the match, I thought we were going to get a second goal which was going to make me feel happier, but at the end of the day, Denis (Onyango) won, this was not the result we wanted at the end of the day you can see that they won.
My teammates and the coaches can have more understanding and I’m getting to understand them better and better.
Unfortunately, we are not getting the results that we want but we will keep working harder as strikers to take the chances we get to help the team.
Zimbabwe has one point after two games with strikers under the spotlight. Captain Knowledge Musona missed three easy chances which may have led to victory and enhanced chances of reaching the knockout stages of the tournament.
