Zimbabwe national football team coach, Sunday Chidzambga says that he hopes to get an opportunity to guide the Warriors in world cup qualification.
He was speaking in an interview with local radio Star FM where he also revealed that he is open to leaving his post if the authorities say so. Said Chidzambga:
If the authorities bring a new coach, they’re most welcome, maybe it’s time for me to go. But the honest truth is that I wanted to go to the World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Information Minister Energy Mutodi has called for Chidzambga’s dismissal. Using his Twitter handle, Mutodi said:
Warriors of shame: after courting President ED to fundraise for the team, we are shocked and displeased by their dismal performance.
It’s clear the coach is a spent force. Players are weak and helpless. It’s time for new players, new coach…of all teams ndombolo hit us hardest!
The Warriors exited the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in humiliating fashion after getting just one point from three games and losing 4-0 to the DRC in the final match.
