Agent Explains Why Chiefs Sold Teenage Hadebe To Turkey
Teenage Hadebe’s agent has shed more light on his client’s “sudden” departure for Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor.
Hadebe’s exit from South African premiership side Kaizer Chiefs took many people by surprise.
He had just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations where he featured in all three of Zimbabwe’s matches. Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Hadebe’s agent Mike Makaab said:
It was a surprise to us as much as it was a surprise to a lot of people. But I have to be honest and say it was a really good offer.
… Zimbabwe didn’t cover themselves in glory, so I am not sure the offer had much to do with the AFCON. But it was a fair offer and a good opportunity for the player.
He had a long chat with the club and at the end of the day, all parties were happy with the deal. I am told they were interested in Teenage before the tournament.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs still have two Zimbabwean players on their books, that is, Willard Katsande and Khama Billiat. However, the two are not registered as foreign players since they have been in South Africa for at least five years.
