Doctors From China, India, SA & Zimbabwe Attending To VP Chiwenga

Presidential Spokesperson, George Charamba, has in a press statement revealed that Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga, has left South Africa for China where he is to undergo further medical tests.

Charamba also revealed that the team to attend to the indisposed Chiwenga is comprised of experts from China, Zimbabwe, South Africa and India. Charamba revealed:

His relocation to China, which builds on the satisfactory recovery progress he has been making, follows weekend discussions at the highest level between Governments of Zimbabwe and China, at which a decision was taken to allow Chinese medical experts to join their expert counterparts from Zimbabwe, South Africa and India in attending to the Vice President.

Chiwenga has seldom appeared in the public for the past seven months. Reports also suggest that he has been constantly been in and out of local and abroad hospitals.

Some quarters of society have expressed their reservations over the treatment of political elites and government officials in foreign lands. They argue that they must be treated in local medical institutions which ‘they destroyed’ by maladministration. One Social media user, Cde Setfree Mafukidze, said:

I wish General Chiwenga well & the man is so lucky he has 4 teams of Medical Doctors attending to him from 4 Nations namely India,South Africa,Zimbabwe and China,hope he gets back on his feet,l can only imagine if people like myself were in his shoes,who would pay those Doctors?

Another Twitter user, Rebuild Zimbabwe wished the VP to get well soon and added:

I wish VP Chiwenga a speedy recovery and thoughts are with his family, however … to spin his having treatment in China as a ‘privilege; extended to their medical experts who will be ‘allowed to join Zimbabwean, South African and Indian experts is insulting. Just admit.
