The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) national executive on 20 July 2019 convened an ad hoc meeting which deliberated on nurses’ incapacitation due to the prevailing economic challenges.
The national executive issued a statement on Monday in which it noted Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube’s assertion that civil servants’ salaries are not adjusted in line with the interbank rate, but with inflation.
Having considered that, the ZINA national executive demanded that there should be an increase in members’ salaries which were originally contracted in USD, in line with the interbank rate.
The association said that it is concerned by the government’s delay in depositing cushion allowances which it offered on its own volition.
It urged its members to continue with flexible working hours until the government offers them meaningful remuneration.
