Zanu PF Political Commissar and the country’s deputy minister of Defence, Victor Matemadanda, has said that even though the MDC announced demonstrations to take place on the 16, 19th and 20th of August, the demonstrations are simply not going to happen.
Pressed by journalists to explain his statement, he did not give a clear answer.
He was speaking at the Heroes Acre during the commemorations of Heroes Day.

Home Affairs minister Cain Mathema said at the weekend that government is ware of plans by the MDC to turn the demonstrations using foreigners who are posing as tourists. He also claimed that some foreigners that were involved in the Arab Spring and demonstrations in Sudan are also present in the country to assist the MDC.
The MDC has dismissed these claims as “typical Zanu-PF” tactics.
