Council Stands At 50% Discount For Families Of Departed Liberation Struggle Heroes
Beitbridge Municipality has announced that it is offering residential stands at half the price to families of departed liberation struggle heroes.
The local authority said that this is its way of showing appreciation to the sacrifices of the heroes who are no longer with us.
Speaking to the Southern Eye on Tuesday, Beitbridge Mayor, Morgan Ncube, said:
We promised to honour our heroes by giving their spouses residential stands at 50% discount. That was my undertaking when I was given a slot to give a vote of thanks at the Heroes Day function.
Also now that we have a district development coordinator who used to work at the provincial administrator’s, I hope she understands about the 10% commonage stands which I have asked her to make sure local war veterans benefit from.
The MDC councillor thanked the liberation struggle heroes for their selfless sacrifices during the struggle.
The event marked the first time in the history of the administration of the subnational authority for an MDC member to be given an opportunity to speak at a heroes day gathering.
