The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution company was on Thursday expected to receive an additional 80MW electricity from Hwange Power Station.
This follows the expected coming online of Unit 4 at 9:30 PM on Thursday. This is expected to ease load shedding which has been upgraded to Stage 2 recently, which entails that areas go for at least 16 hours without electricity.
Writing on his Twitter handle, Energy and Power Development Minister, Fortune Chasi announced the “good” news. He said:
ENERGY UPDATE: UNIT 4 Hwange Firing started @1522Hrs yesterday. It was Targeted to kick in at 2130Hrs last night. As a result, we are Expecting an 80MW boost this morning to ease load shedding. Good morning to you all.
