South Africa-based Warriors star, Khama Billiat has revealed why he featured in Zimbabwe’s 2022 World Cup Qualifier preliminary match against Somalia when he missed his Club, Kaizer Chiefs’ matches due to an injury.
There has been controversy over his involvement in the match with some suggesting that he was not fully committed to the club.
The Zimbabwe international, however, told the club media on Thursday, that the club had agreed to release him. He said:
As you know I was nursing an injury, but the club and the national team management agreed to my release.
We thought the match would provide a good platform to test my recovery.
After all, it was a team effort and I am glad I contributed. Nothing comes close to representing the nation, especially if you consider the situation we found ourselves in.
The dazzling attacking midfielder has already joined Kaizer Chiefs teammates in training ahead of their match against Polokwane City over the weekend.
