Zimbabwean journalist and former editor for the state-run weekly newspaper The Sunday Mail has said that the CBZ Bank Limited, was caught mixing counterfeit USDs with real money.
Kudzayi added that the bank would then give unsuspecting customers who would have come to make withdrawals. Posting on Twitter, Kudzayi said:
Major scandal at CBZ after the bank was caught mixing counterfeit US dollar notes with the real thing and giving out to withdrawing customers. It is not possible for these notes to have been deposited by a client. That is the scary part as it points to a conspiracy cc @ZACConline
The commercial Bank is a wholly-owned owned by CBZ Holdings Limited, a diversified financial organisation listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
