The total cost of the mausoleum in which the late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe will be buried has been estimated at US$1 million.
Zim Morning Post reports that the plan of the project was designed by the Ministry of Local Government Public Works and National Housing is expected to take 3 months to be completed, provided resources are in place.
Sources to the publication have said that works at the National Heroes Acre have already begun. One source said that the mausoleum is circular in shape and has a solid-dome-roof as well as slanted glass columns, with the grave on the centre.
Cai Li Bo, the manager of Shanghai Group Project, the company handpicked to build the mausoleum, confirmed that they have started constructing the state of the art building. Cai Li Bo said:
It is true that we are building the mausoleum and the time for its completion depends on the availability of the material.
Zim Morning Post further reports that the slanted glass columns and the solid-dome-shaped roof will be imported from abroad.
