Even though they didn’t have to win because they had already lifted the Victoria cup, the Sables were defeated by hosts Kenya yesterday when they were completing the 4 nation rugby cup the Victoria Tournament. Yesterday ‘s defeat was the only defeat against 5 straight wins. However, despite the defeat the sables lifted the Victoria trophy.
According to Sunday News:
It was the only defeat in six matches for the Sables who had already won the Victoria Cup with a 41-5 triumph over Zambia in Lusaka last Saturday. Prop Matthew Mandioma and centre Ngoni Chibuwe scored a try each for the Sables with flyhalf Dudlee White-Sharpely kicking in both conversions. Kenya, who led 17-7 at halftime were too good for the Sables on the day and got good revenge for the 30-29 loss they suffered at the hands of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo at the beginning of August.
