Zim Meets 2020 Family Planning Deadline

Zimbabwe has become the first African country to meet the 2020 deadline to ensure that at least 68 per cent of women have access to family planning services.

This was revealed by Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) regional manager Blessed Gumbi during the World Contraception Day commemorations last Thursday. He said:

We have done so well as a country and managed to meet the 2020 target before the deadline. However, we still have challenges with men who make it difficult for women to access family planning services which often leads to unwanted pregnancies.

Gumbi however, expressed concern over some men who have refused to fully embrace the use of contraceptives.

He assured men that it has been scientifically proven that none of these contraceptive methods leads to infertility.
