Harare Magistrate, Hosea Mujaya, dismissed the former Vice President, Phelekezela Mphoko’s temporary passport release application on the grounds that he was a flight risk.
Mujaya observed that Mphoko had failed to supply title deeds for his Bulawayo property which he had indicated as surety.
Mphoko is facing charges of criminal abuse of office which were allegedly committed during his tenure of office.
The ex-vice president who is currently out on ZWL$1000 bail was was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) on allegations he ordered the release of Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) officials in 2016.
Mphoko’s application for the temporary release of his passport indicated that he wanted to travel to South Africa for business.
