Zimbabwe Netball team, the Gems on Tuesday lost 46-71 to Malawi in their final Africa Netball Cup to finish fourth.
Gems caretaker coach, coach, Ropafadzo Mutsauki who is standing in for the absent Lloyd Makunde said that he was impressed by the performance of the team despite the loss. He said:
Overall, the team played well, they played as team and I am very happy with the substitution, the substitutes played very well.
At first, the team was affected very much (by the injury to Takaidza), but, as time went on, they gained confidence.
Zimbabwe suffered a blow in the first quarter of the match as their seasoned shooter, Joice Takaidza limped out due to injury.
The Gems were walked over y Uganda in their first match, lost the second match to hosts, South Africa then won three consecutive matches against Kenya, Lesotho and Zambia and then lost the last one to Malawi.
South Africa was crowned champions followed by Malawi and Uganda whilst Zimbabwe finished fourth.
