Rehabilitation Of Morton Jaffray Waterworks Commences
Harare Mayor, Cllr Gomba has revealed that the rehabilitation of one of the biggest waterworks in the capital, Morton Jaffray is already underway.
The development comes after the central government disbursed $37,4 million to the local government authority towards the project, overhaul of the water distribution network, sewer reticulation system upgrade and installation of 8 000 residential prepaid meters. Gomba said”
We are currently working on the filters and clarification of which we are on target in terms of the phase one.
FeedbackThe Herald reports that the central government allocated $495 000 and $296 000, in that order for phase one of the project rehabilitation of the Morton Jaffray clarifiers and for filters.
Phase 1 is expected to be completed within two months whilst filters should be completed in three months.
The development comes when the capital has had water challenges for years which resulted in the outbreak of cholera and other waterborne diseases.
