An MDC councillor was on Wednesday acquitted of disorderly conduct after he allegedly accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of causing the suffering that citizens are currently enduring.
Brian Kembo, the MDC Alliance’s Ward 3 councillor in Bindura, was represented by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
Kembo was acquitted by Bindura magistrate Maria Musika at the close of the prosecution case after his lawyer Idirashe Chikomba applied for discharge.
The State had alleged that Kembo,36, had blamed President Mnangagwa for failing to alleviate the current economic crisis while in conversation with another man after he boarded a kombi on October 24 last year.
