A former Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs has claimed that the Zimbabwean justice system is the best in Africa and probably in the whole world.
Advocate Obert Gutu who is now the vice president of the MDC led by Dr Thokozani Khupe posted on twitter and said:
The Zimbabwean Judiciary has been unfairly attacked for being partisan & politically biased. I respectfully beg to disagree with this misplaced notion. I will put my head on the block & fearlessly state that our Judiciary is one of the best in Africa, if not in the entire world.
His remarks come when the opposition MDC led by advocate Nelson Chamisa has often criticised the courts for “showing favouritism to the ruling ZANU PF”.
The courts are currently seized with a leadership wrangle case involving Chamisa and Khupe in which each of them is claiming to be the legitimate leader of the MDC formed and left by the late former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai.
