A 13-year-old boy from St Mary’s in Hwange was dragged underwater by a crocodile and only managed to escape after his friend pelted it with stones.
Proud Ngwenya has admitted at St Patrick’s Hospital for five days to receive treatment for injuries he sustained while fighting off a crocodile. Speaking to Sunday News from a hospital bed, Proud said:
We were fishing in the water at Kalope Dam when I felt some sharp pain as something gripped my leg. I tried to pull away but there I discovered that I was being dragged to the deep ends.
Proud said after he realised that he was being dragged by the mammoth reptile, he started kicking and stabbing it while his friend pelted it with stones. The crocodile eventually released him.
