Billiat: Initially We Struggled To Understand Middendorp's Philosophy
Kaizer Chiefs winger Khama Billiat claims that his slow start under coach Ernst Middendorp is attributable to the failure to understand the German’s philosophy.
Speaking to The Citizen, Billiat revealed that he took a bit of time to properly understand his role in the team under Midderndorp. He said:
We have just started understanding each other better, and everyone now understands the coach’s philosophy better.
FeedbackI think that’s one thing that we didn’t get right when the coach arrived. We never really understood properly what our roles are, and how to be in certain moments. It took a bit of time. And I think we’re getting into it and we really look like a team right now.
… We are understanding it (coach’s system) a lot better now, and things that were difficult for us have become easier. Through hard work and paying attention to detail, it seems to be working for us.
Billiat paid tribute to the Amakhosi defence, with the team conceding fewer goals this season than before.
Chiefs are seven points ahead of the chasing pack in the Absa Premiership and their next game is against eternal rivals, Orlando Pirates.
