The construction of a mausoleum at the National Heroes Acre in Harare which was originally meant for the burial of the late national hero, Robert Mugabe, is continuing.
The government reached an agreement with Mugabe’s two sons, Robert Jnr and Chatunga, to build the structure and identify the site for its construction soon after his death in September this year.
However, Mugabe’s family later repented and buried the body at his rural home at Kutama, Zvimba.
National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe (NMMZ) executive director Godfrey Mahachi said that the mausoleum would only be handed over to the museums by the Department of Public Works when complete.
