Togarepi Says Civil Servants Have Been Paid By 3rd Hand To Push For Regime Change

ZANU PF secretary for youth affairs Pupurai Togarepi has accused civil servants – teachers, doctors and nurses – of being used by a third hand to sabotage President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Togarepi supported the government’s decision to fire hundreds of doctors who had been on strike for over two months, claiming that ethical questions justify restricting individual rights. He said:

Teachers, doctors and nurses are being ensnared and entrapped with a few pieces of dirty money to push for regime change through embarking on strikes that will presumably lead to the collapse of Government and result in the deaths of people.

… The Government was thus within its rights to crack the whip and in accordance with the law, fire a few miscreants who are smuggling political agendas into purely labour issues.

Civil servants staged a demonstration in Harare last week, demanding their salaries to be indexed to the prevailing interbank market rates.

In the same week, the government fired more than 200 doctors who did not report for duty since September 3. The doctors claimed that they were financially incapacitated.
