OPINION: Stern Measures Needed To Deal With Cash Barons
An opinionist in the Daily News said brutal force was needed to conquerer the cash baron problem. The opinionist registered his displeasure with the cash barons and the problems they are projecting to the society and the nation at large when he opined that stiff penalties must be imposed to punish cash baron perpetrators.
It is disheartening that just a day after the new notes and cash went into circulation on Tuesday, they flooded the black market. Images of the notes and coins were widely circulated on social media, prompting the central bank to institute investigations on how, why and who took the money to the underground market.
Besides the punitive action the RBZ would take, corrupt individuals and money dealers should face very stiff penalties for peddling physical cash and the penalties should rank from heavy fines to lengthy jail sentences.
FeedbackZimbabweans have been victims of a few crooked people who have become obscene rich through the black market. The malcontents have rendered the national currency useless through their unwarranted and criminal shenanigans.
The Zimbabwe dollar will never drive its potential value when rascals continue to play yoyo with it. The strength of any currency is driven from confidence and it has been in short supply, not mainly because of our economic problems, but by currency speculators, money peddlers and the black market
