The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Gloria Magombo, said that the electricity situation in the country is expected to stabilise in the next six to eight months.
Magombo said this while speaking during a post-budget consultation on Tuesday.
She said that stabilising the power situation is achievable if the country manages to get between 500 and 600MW from the Kariba power station.
Restoration of Unit 4 and 6 at the Hwange Thermal station will also help in eliminating the debilitating power cuts, she asserted.
Engineer Magombo said that the government is looking into increasing power imports and the adoption of renewable energy such as solar.
