Three Early Childhood Development (ECD) pupils from Rusike Primary School, Goromonzi, Mashonaland East Province died after they were struck by lightning as they departed school for home.
According to Prisca Dube, the chairperson of the Goromonzi District Civil Protection Unit, a fourth pupil survived with burns and was being treated at the Ruwa Rehabilitation Hospital.
In a related matter, officials in Matabeleland South have said that a herdboy drowned in Filabusi after attempting to cross the flooded Insiza River.
The rains which came with violent storms have so far destroyed structures and properties as well as people’s lives around the country.
