Magistrate Tinashe Tashaya has found Josphat Mzaca Ngulube, a 2018 losing independent candidate, and three other people guilty of malicious vandalism of property during the January 14 fuel protests.
The accused, Ngulube, Fortune Masuku (29), Melusi Moyo (32) and Otilia Sibanda (34) were remanded in custody to Friday for sentence.
The state alleges that the accused, acting in connivance with 100 others, unlawfully blocked the free movement of traffic in Bulawayo during the January 14 fuel protests.
The accused are also said to have torched a Nissan whose flames destroyed part of the Vitz.
It further claims that a Ford Ranger and Nissan NP300 were burnt beyond repair bringing the total of destroyed properties to US$95 000.
The three vehicles belonged to Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial women’s league chairperson, Eva Bitu.
