Harare City Council Workers Awarded $300 Cushioning Allowance

Harare City Council (HCC) has awarded its employees a cushioning allowance of ZWL300 backdated to November 1, 2019.

This was revealed by the Human Resources and General Purposes Committee, Councillor Jacob Mafume, during a media briefing on Thursday. He said:

HCC employees will be given a sum of ZWL300 per month to clear the arrears from previous collective bargaining agreements.

The decision was reached following a collective bargaining agreement entered into by the Harare Municipal Workers’ Union (HMWU), Zimbabwe Urban Councils Workers’ Union (ZUCWU), Water and Allied Workers’ Union of Zimbabwe (WAWUZ) and Zimbabwe Allied Municipal Workers’ Union (ZAMWU).

Currently, the lowest-paid HCC employee takes home ZWL1 108.
