"Be Clear You're Banning MDC Not Its Meetings," CHAMISA Tells Govt
The leader of the opposition MDC, Nelson Chamisa has said that the state was actually banning MDC as a party under the guise of banning its meetings.
Through his spokesperson, Nkululeko Sibanda, the youthful leader said that the state should be clear so that the party employs tactics that are suitable for a banned party.
Speaking after state police violently dispersed MDC supporters who had gathered at Morgan Tsvangirai House, formerly Harvest House, where Chamisa was delivering his Hope of the Nation Address on Wednesday, Sibanda said:
MDC president chamisa said the same thing, if this government wants to ban the MDC they should say so instead of going around acting like they simply banning the meetings.
If the MDC is banned we will operate in this country as a banned organisation, using the tactics and methods of a banned organisation.
The state has been blocking MDC demonstrations lately saying that the police had gathered “concrete evidence” to suggest that the demonstrations were going to degenerate into chaos thereby putting national peace and security in jeopardy.
The MDC intended to conduct a spate of protests, nationwide, over the deteriorating state of affairs.
