The government has availed US$9,3 million for urgent works at Manyame and Warren Control Pump Station to deal with the water crisis bedevilling Harare.
Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told reporters on Tuesday that an assessment carries at Harare’s water reservoirs showed that the raw water quality at Lake Manyame was better than at Lake Chivero. She said:

Cabinet concurs that pumping water from Lake Manyame reduces the usage of aluminium sulphate by 26,8 per cent. This will consequently reduce the cost of treating water as aluminium sulphate is the main chemical.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently toured Morton Jaffray Waterworks to assess the situation obtaining thereat.
Morton Jaffray Treatment Waterworks is Harare’s major water treatment plant.
