Fastjet Plans To Ply Harare-Beira Route
Fastjet has disclosed that it is keen to plying Harare-Beira route a development which would see the carrier reviving the route that had been ditched by other airlines.
The plan was disclosed in an interview with the Herald recently by Fastjet Chief Executive Officer, Joao Sousa, who also indicated the airline’s interest in taking up more routes in the region. Sousa said:
There are several routes we are looking at internationally, there used to be routes to Kruger, Beira and Maputo and these are under our radar and we are doing a business analysis so we can see the next move.
FeedbackFrom Government, we are expecting faster decisions in terms of allowing us to do more routes than we are doing right now.
We want Government to help us achieve more routes that we have applied for in the meantime, international and also local.
The development comes after the airline also announced recently its plans to introduce the Bulawayo Johannesburg route on 5 December this year.
The new route will complement the airline’s four times daily return service from its hub in Harare, Zimbabwe, to Johannesburg.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported recently that the airline was in talks to sell its Zimbabwe business to have money to sustain it until 2021.
