Highlanders coach Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh is open to extending his contract with Highlanders FC with his current deal expiring on December 31.
Speaking to NewsDay Weekender ahead of the Chibuku Super Cup final against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Barbourfields Stadium this Saturday, de Jongh said:
My focus is on the cup (Chibuku Super Cup) and finishing the league in a good position. I have produced very good results with Highlanders and that is not in dispute. I love the club.
When I arrived, Highlanders were a sinking ship, but I have had a good working relationship and co-operation with the staff. I am open to discussions with Highlanders on contract extension, but for every coach, it is an honour to work for an FA.
The Dutchman dumped Dynamos and Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum out of the Chibuku Super Cup en route to the final.
Reports suggest that de Jongh has been sounded out by other clubs having saved Highlanders from relegation and lifting them up to fifth on the log standings.
