A traditional Bira to welcome the New Year will be held at Dzimbanhete Arts And Culture Center tonight, Daily News reports. The event, called Bira rekuparura Mwaka will have attendees singing, clapping and dancing to Ngoma Nehosho the entire night.
Dzimbanhete Arts and Culture Co-founder Jonathan Goredema Spoke to the publication about the event and said:
These are sounds of the sacred web. A day event with mbira players who include the likes of Shumba of Nhare Pasichigare mbira Group and Sinyoro Mujongondi of Vauki who are going to bless the event and the all-night traditional bira revadzimu,
In this festival Dzimbanhete is partnering with a Ni- gerian cultural organisation called Oja Cultural Initia- tives, who are on their way to construct a Nigerian villages compound comprised of three major tribes in Nigeria (Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo.
The New year is still 24 days away according to the gregorian calendar though.
