Reports claiming that Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has been nominated ZANU PF co-vice president by the provinces have been categorically refuted by the party’s Secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu.
Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com on Tuesday, Mpofu characterised the reports as a “myth”. He said:
How can you believe such a myth? We don’t have such.
Our nominations are done by all provinces and it is about the president nobody else.
Social media reports had suggested that Muchinguri and Tshinga Dube, a retired army colonel, are set to replace Vice Presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi.
Both Muchinguri and Dube are Politburo members, holding the national chairperson and deputy finance portfolios respectively.
