ED Removes Chief Ndiweni As Traditional Ruler
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has this Friday removed Chief Felix Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni as the traditional ruler of the Ndiweni Chieftainship.
He announced the development at the ZANU PF Annual People’s Conference underway at Goromonzi High School in Mashonaland East.
The development comes after Matebeleland North Chiefs’ Council removed the traditional leader from his post saying that his elder brother was the legitimate heir to the throne.
However, the Ndiweni clan elders, Amangwe clan elders, elders in Ntabazinduna and the general community dissented to Ndiweni’s removal by the Matebeleland North Chiefs’ Council saying that the right and discretion to choose a leader remained with them.
His removal sparked controversy with some analysts saying that Ndiweni was being punished for being critical of President Mnangagwa’s administration and for inviting other sanctions upon Zimbabwe.
