Mr Easy Pulls Out Of Madirirano Concert
Jamaican dancehall singer Mr Easy will no longer feature at the annual Madirirano concert set for this Saturday at Alexandra Sports Club in Harare.
Mr Easy’s withdrawal from the concert came as a result of his United Kingdom (UK)-based promoter Digital One Entertainment’s failure to agree with a local promoter, Simbarashe “Simba Bodyslam” Chakare.
Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style on Thursday, Kivo Santana of Digital One Entertainment claimed that Bodyslam failed to fulfil his part of the deal. He said:
We had hoped to bring Mr Easy to Zimbabwe for the Digital One’s 20th-anniversary celebrations after BodySlam had initially agreed that we partner with him as he was hosting the Madirirano festival, but when it was time to draft contracts, he started being evasive.
We could not work with him (Bodyslam) without proper contracts so we decided to cancel everything as we felt the Madirirano partners wanted to use us.
Mr Easy had earlier on Wednesday released a video in which he distanced himself from the Madirirano concert, saying he had no show in Zimbabwe this weekend or in the near future.
The Madirirano concert is a brainchild of Bodyslam and it has developed to be one of the biggest events on the local showbiz calendar.
