ZRP In Mashonaland Central Has Arrested 170 Illegal Miners, Impounded 40 Vehicles, Dealt With 26 Assault Cases As Artisanal Miners Flood Jumbo Mine
The Police in Mashonaland Central Province are working extra hard as Makorokoza flood Mazowe making it a criminal metropolis, Mining Zimbabwe reports.
The publication spoke to Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembi who she more light on the matter and said:
These arrests are for the past two months only and we also arrested 170 people for loitering around Jumbo Mine. Pirate taxis are now frequenting the area and we impounded 40 vehicles. Assault cases have also increased in the area and 26 cases were reported at Mazowe Police Station.

Artisanal Miners also known as Makorokoza are usually engaged in illegal mining activities which is dangerous as they sometimes drown in tunnels or sometimes are attacked by rivals groups and machete-wielding gangs, Mashurugwi.
